I began my ‘solo traveller phase’ in February 2013 when I flew out to Auckland in New Zealand in order to join the cruise ship ‘Aurora’ to sail back to the UK.  This was a journey of some 10 weeks and took in New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Oman, UAE, Egypt, Cyprus, Israel, Italy and Portugal.  Although it was only part of the world, it was intended to assuage my wanderlust.  Did it?  Absolutely not, and the first part of 2014 will see me in South America, the South Pacific Islands before a welcome return to Australia.  And so it begins
